Xingzheng (1914-1987) entered the monastic life in Shaolin Temple when he was six years old. Then he followed Master Debao to cultivate Chan Buddhism and practice martial arts. Since the temple was damaged on fire in 1928, he and the remaining monks lived on farm and protected the cultural relics from destruction. On October, 1986, he became the 29th abbot since Buddhabhadra founded the temple in 495 AD. Over the years, he devoted himself to the rejuvenation of Shaolin Temple. Xingzheng passed away in 1987 and buried in Pagoda Forest.
