Miaoxing (1891-1927) was famous as Kungfu master and leader of warrior monks. He took tonsure at 8 years old and had studied traditional Kungfu techniques with Master Henglin in Shaolin Temple. In 1923, Miaoxing succeeded Henglin to the office of Shaolin Abbot. He broke the rule of keeping historic Shaolin secrets from no one outside the temple and imparted authentic Shaolin martial arts to the laity while in office. His books such as Shaolin Quan Instructions and Shaolin Staff Instructions, etc. are handed down and collected in the temple.
